Wildtiernah Berlin as Art Director for Yellow Too

The Senate-funded project ‘Wildtiernah Berlin’ by the Leibnitz-Institut für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW) promotes the harmonious coexistence of wild animals and Berliners. It informs, advises and connects citizens, institutions and politicians.

As Art Director for the Berlin-based communications agency Yellow too, i developed a consistent, distinctive corporate design for the initiative. The design strikes a balance between approachability and scientific credibility. The result is a straightforward, architectural logo complemented by a handwritten component. This conveys empathy without tipping over into the saccharine. The colour palette picks up on tones that are familiar from the animal and plant world. However, they were chosen to be more intense, stronger and brighter to reflect the dynamism of the urban environment. Complemented by Berlin city silhouettes and wildlife pictograms, the result is a modern, eye-catching look that stands out in the visual jungle of the city.
